Let's give room to soft mobility and itineraries dedicated to cyclists!
The cross-border area between the Mendrisiotto area and Varese's province has been recently gained a new
infrastructure to promote soft mobility. It's been officially inaugurated the Valle del Lanza  bicycle lane,
which connects Malnate (from Folla) up to Cantello, to be precise the fraction of Gaggiolo across the
border with Switzerland.
It is a 7 kilometers stretch that can be covered on foot or by bicycle. The works were financed by the  Interreg Ti Ciclo Via programme.
In the future it will be extended southward, with a stretch of 5.6 kilometers that will connect the Folla of Malnate with Castiglione Olona, and developments are also expected on the Swiss side.
The Municipality of Stabio - as reported by Corriere del Ticino - “already has studied a hypothesis of connection with the customs that it foresees also a redevelopment project in the Gaggiolo area
from the Swiss side. There is the intention to create a new special cycle/pedestrian border crossing".
This way you will have the chance to commute to work by bicycle, as well as cycling for sport and leisure, encouraging cycling and sustainability across the border areas.
From this point of view, the presence of a charging station for e-bike, equipped with everything necessary for the maintenance of the bicycle (including tools and a universal bicycle pump), makes “Lo Scudo di Stabio” an ideal hub for the future cross-border cycle route between the lands of Varese and Ticino. For our customers, it is also possible to rent an e-bike and set off to discover the area.
